We often associate blockchain with Bitcoin and other forms of cryptocurrency, but that is only a single use case. Blockchain networks can track and trade virtually anything of value thanks to the ability to secure data storage, transmission, and synchronization via an immutable, decentralized ledger. Blockchain’s decentralized ledger allows it to track customer interactions and preferences, enabling businesses to create more personalized customer experiences.
I worked on a similar case, where we used Blockchain’s decentralized ledger to store employee data and create a more personalised customer experience for a startup incubator center known as BHAU located in Pune. When we first started working with BHAU, we knew that our technology could help them solve their problem with attendance management. We decided on using our mobile app, which allows users to enter and exit at point, creating a unique ID with the implementation of blockchain.
Before running experiments and gathering more data, there are few things to keep in mind. More data doesnt mean better data. We alreadyb live in a ocean of data from everything, but not all of it matters. So before anything we starts with the 5Ws. Whose Problems are we solving? What do they need? Why do they want it? How are they making a decision? Why? Where is the solution leaking money?
In order to do this, Earthcard was installed on a specific part of the building's infrastructure, which allowed it to scan each employee's identity card and store it in the system's database. The company then used this information in order to carry out other tasks related to attendance management (such as calculating how long an employee spends on site).
We interviewed 15 offices, 3 security guards and 5 employees working in BHAU. We noticed some issues that became apparent and had a overall common theme. Offices and HR spend a long time performing miscellaneous admin duties. The security often lacks at the entry and exit points making it difficult to track employees. Employees often suffer from not being able to track their time, overtime duties.
We also conducted competitor and SWOT analysis. We looked into our ideal product market segment, and how we can model our product similarly.
The problem they faced was the difficulty in keeping track of employee's presence at all times. The current system used by institutions often leads to neglect and inaccuracy. For this project we used in BHAU and some other local cafes. A user can enter and exit at point, creation of a unique ID with the implementation of blockchain.
A flow encompassing with the objective of providing users a easy way to track their attendance and the admin to track users from entering the premises that will deliver a heightened sense of security.
We aimed for a very futuristic pallete with corporate outfeel. Typography was and design system was implemented similarly that echoed a sense of security and trust. We chose the Neon Blue that exhibited minimalism and simplicity. We also conducted the color for showcasing accesibility. We conducted a blindness test and came up with positive results.
We then conceptualised our wireframes, prototyped each screen, ran multiple tests to deliver something more substantial than just a app, but a start of new revolution. How with the help of a system of card one can manage their attendance and promote security solutions.
Finally concluding this ambititous project, we could bring about 80% increase adoption rate, with high conversion rates. The physical cards were succesful to say the least. The future scope entails entry and exit at all places, and with the power of blockchain ledfer one can privatise their personal information.
